This is a short and hopefully informative post for all the brides out there that are tackling a never-ending list of wedding questions and tasks, I hope this helps you settle one that may not be as easy to find an answer to. I get asked "should I get my makeup airbrushed?" A lot, and as someone who does airbrush makeup, my answer is usually no. Buckle up, and let me explain why.

First- in case you don't even know what airbrush makeup is- it is a makeup that is applied using an air compressor and an airbrush (obvs.) that sprays a fine mist of liquid product over your skin for a flawless "filter" looking effect. Sounds pretty great, no?

The thing about airbrush makeup is it can look great, if you have optimal skin conditions, but if you are dry/oily/textured/etc, it can look patchy and potentially crack after extended wear/layering for more coverage. Imagine you have lines around your eyes, when you close your eyes, those lines contract, now spray a mist over your face and when you open your eyes, the lines extend, leaving a section of skin with no makeup because the mist couldn't reach it while it was folded...am I making sense? Basically, it's tricky to get a good and even application on most people. Another thing to mention, is that the effect of the airbrush is only achieved when it hasn't been touched. If you apply airbrush makeup and then have to do any touch-ups with a brush/sponge/q-tip, you have now disturbed that airbrush finish with brush strokes and thus have voided the purpose of the airbrush.

So, my advice? Stick with traditional makeup. In this year of 2025, makeup products have gone above and beyond to provide a flawless and undetectable finish for people. With traditional makeup, you have the option of different formulas and finishes, whereas airbrush options are quite limited and cannot be completely customized for your beautiful face. In my experience, airbrush makeup is usually offered as an upgrade for makeup packages and doesn't really warrant the added expense. Find yourself a makeup artist with a good kit that stocks variety and they will deliver the look of your dreams with old fashioned brushes. But, if after all this, you are still leaning toward airbrush makeup- (you probably have perfect skin and that must be really great for you) then live your best life!
